Periplo 2023 Festival

The development of the graphic language of the 11th edition of the Periplo Festival required a focus on the theme: rituals and journeys. The organisers wanted to invite reflection on travel and respect for the tangible and intangible assets of the communities visited.

It was decided to search for rituals that were little known to the public and to create travelling characters who travelled from the local to other countries. A journey that was made from an observant and careful perspective.

Through geometric forms and granulated textures, two journeys were recreated, one to the heart of the Fiesta of the Lightning God in the Wej Dukwá Duhwi cave, Oaxaca. The other to a Tuareg camp where the dance ritual was held.

These visual representations take key elements of each culture and transform them into spheres, lines and masses of colour. This leaves room for curiosity and imagination, a visual story that is not completely closed off for each person to start their own journey of exploration.
